MFGN will be hosting the inaugural performance of this new wind orchestra, and 100% of the proceeds from this performance will be dedicated to support the scholarship efforts of the Foundation.  You may be thinking – what is a wind orchestra?  Simply stated, a wind orchestra – or symphonic wind ensemble – is an orchestra with no strings attached!  There is a wealth of serious music by serious composers for symphonic wind ensembles, and there is a wealth of passionate and talented amateur wind musicians in Southwest Florida, who are looking to connect and perform this repertoire.

Dr. Timothy Yontz, Professor at the Bower School of Music & the Arts, will lead the ~45 member ensemble at its premiere performance, which will include works from Leonard Bernstein (Candide), Aaron Copeland (Variations on a Shaker Melody) and Charles Ives (Variations on America), just to name a few.  If you have never heard a high-end wind symphony, you are in for a real treat!
