Biography

Suzan Bergland

Music speaks to her soul and always takes her to a beautiful place. Suzan hails from Spartanburg, SC, where she started playing flute in Jr. High School. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Music from Furman University and a Masters in Music from Converse College. Through the years she has performed with concert bands, symphony orchestras, chamber music groups and has done solo work in multiple venues. After teaching in Middle School Band for several years, Suzan decided to make a career change into industry. It was a great blend of playing and privately teaching flute for enjoyment, working with her young daughter on cello with the Suzuki method, and learning and applying business skills at work.

Suzan has worked with numerous organizations to help them improve their bottom-line results and to create a sustainable competitive advantage. In 1996 she received a Masters in Quality Management Degree from Loyola University in New Orleans. In 2013 she retired from the AGI-Goldratt Institute after serving as a Partner and member of the Theory of Constraints International Certification Organization (TOCICO) and holds all six TOCICO certifications (Supply Chain Logistics, Thinking Process, Holistic Strategy, Project Management, Finance and Measures and Fundamentals). Suzan is coauthor of the business novel VELOCITY – Combining Lean, Six Sigma and the Theory of Constraints to Achieve Breakthrough Performance, which was published December 29, 2009 by Simon & Schuster.

Since retirement Suzan completed the Greater Naples Leadership (GNL) Master Class and has served on the GNL Board as the Program Co-Chair of the Class Leadership Team and as the Chair of the Distinguished Leadership Award Committee. She enjoys golfing, dancing and playing bridge as well as continuing to play her flute.
